Amla: Benefits of Hair and How to Use

Hair falling is neatly visible right after you come out of your shower and take a look at the clogged drain. Although no one could resist hair loss, one definitely can find ways to minimize the effect and cause. An average female loses about 80 hair strands every day, but more than that is not at all healthy for your hair.

Did you also know that one of the causes of hair loss is the absence of vital vitamins in your scalp? Luckily, there are ways to balance this out by using natural DIYs, ingredients, and other techniques that help in re-growing your hair to its old natural self.

Amla or Indian Gooseberry is one such ingredient which doesn’t only help in re-growing your hair but also improves the texture of your hair strands significantly. Back to the grandma’s beauty treasure, this article will let you know about various benefits of Amla and would also assist by telling you the proper way to use it.

1. Stimulates Hair Growth and Balances Keratin:

Amla or Indian Gooseberry is a rich source of Vitamin C which is known to produce collagen that doesn’t only make the hair follicles strong but also helps in giving a shiny texture to your hair strands. If one has a thin hair type, using Amla for about 6 weeks can make their hair thick, lustrous, and glowing.

Vitamin C is also a water-soluble insolvent which is one can use Amla before or after rinsing the hair.

2. Removing Dandruff:

When your scalp feels dirty and itchy, there are chances of the presence of dandruff in it. Amla also has an anti-inflammatory property which is known for giving a cooling effect to the hair.

The Amla treatment for dandruff is as effective as the lemon treatment with an extra benefit of smooth texture that Amla gives your hair.

Excessive dandruff on your hair scalp can also lead to acne, falling of hair strands, and losing the natural shine of the hair which is why it is better to eliminate dandruff off your hair as soon as possible.

3. Prevents pre-mature Graying:

Most hair colour packs contain a good quantity of Amla in it. Even youngsters in their early 20s are prone to premature greying of hair which is why putting Amla to neutralize the greying effect is considered a good idea for people in their early 20s.

For ages, Indian gooseberry powder is used to improve the colour of hair strands and also to fortify the roots of the hair.

4. Amla as Hair Conditioner:

One of the biggest weaknesses of “dry hair” is that it looks dull even right after using a shampoo which is why you are sometimes required to put conditioner in your hair after rinsing it well with a mild shampoo.

Apart from the presence of Vitamin C in it, Amla also has a good quantity of antioxidants in it which preserves the natural moisture content of hair strands and make them long, shiny, and healthy-looking at the same time.

5. Making Hair Stronger:

If you see a huge mess of hair in your comb right after you have brushed them, your hair is weak and is prone to fall easily. To make hair stronger, one has to strengthen the roots of the hair and make sure that they are well-conditioned.

Amla, again, is a natural ingredient that can help strengthen the roots of the hair suitably. Massaging some Amla oil in scalp improves the blood circulation of the scalp and makes the hair stronger.

How to Use Amla on Your Hair?

1. Amla Powder at Home –

Take Amla and remove all the seeds from them and put them in the sunlight for 2-3 days to take all the moisture out from them.

Next, grind the gooseberries in a grinder to make a fine powder and store the powder in a steel jar.

•  The best thing about the powder is that they can be used directly on your hair pre-shower or you can mix this powder with coconut oil or aloe vera gel to make a fine hair pack.

2. Amla Hair Oil:

Another simple way to use Amla is by using it as hair oil. Amla hair oils are easy to find in the market but before purchasing any of them, make sure that you keep a check on the ingredient list and opt for the organic ones without any sort of preservatives or sulfate in it.

Optionally, you can take dried gooseberries and put them in coconut oil and heat the mixture for a while. After letting it cool down, massage the hair oil on your scalp for a few minutes and rinse it off the morning after the application.
